Why Choose Mesenchymal Stem Cells (MSCs)?
Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) have provided doctors with a bevy of possibilities when it comes to treatment, and at Elite Regenerative in Joveland, we’re excited to see where MSCs can take us. We know that you may not have come across the term before, but mesenchymal cells are multipotent adult stem cells that can be found in a person’s bone marrow. When extracted, these cells can be used to treat a number of orthopedic injuries, including hip, knee, and shoulder problems. A Plentiful Reservoir
One reason MSCs are ideal for stem cell therapy is that they can be found in plentiful supply in the bone marrow. Through a process called “bone marrow aspiration,” the MSCs are gathered from the patient’s own body, concentrated, and then injected into the injured or affected site. The MSCs can then help the body heal, and since they’re from the patient’s own marrow, there can be less of a chance of rejection. The MSCs will also regenerate in the bone marrow, so you don’t have to worry about depleting the reservoir.
Diverse Differentiation
Another benefit of using MSCs is the fact that they’re undifferentiated cells. This means they have no “assignment” until they’re added to a specific site in the body. They can differentiate into ligament, tendon, bone, and other types of cells, and help your body heal based on the type of injury you’ve sustained. This versatility makes them ideal for a number of treatments, and removes the concerns surrounding donor stem cells.
